I ordered the Waterpik Neti Pot as a part of a free online promotion they held a couple of months ago. I planned on giving it to my boyfriend because the idea of purposefully putting salt water up my nose just did not appeal to me. Last week I came down with some type of cold/allergy induced sinus problems including sore throat, coughing, and congestion. It was then I remembered the Neti Pot sitting, unopened, under my bathroom sink. I was so miserable at this point that I decided to dig it out and give it a go.
The instructions were clear and helpful. I used lukewarm water (too hot and it can hurt!) and one packet of provided saline. You tilt you head to the side and slightly forward and let the water run in one nostril and out the other, by way of gravity. If you're very congested (as I was) it may take a minute for the water to come out as a steady stream. It will drip until it finally breaks through the mucus causing your congestion. While the solution is working it's way through your congestion it may also go down the back of your throat a bit, because of all the blockage in your nose. Just tilt your head forward a little more and spit it out. It just tastes like the ocean haha. Without going into too much graphic detail about what comes out of your nose with the use of the Neti Pot... I definitely recommend this product! As someone who was originally creeped out by the thought of the whole process, I've been converted! I'm now finally getting over my sickness but still have bouts of thick mucus I can feel coming down the back of my throat. When this happens the Neti Pot comes to my aid and cleans it right out! It really is a miracle, and a great alternative to steroid nose sprays (but those are amazing too...)
Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

An Ancient Technique for Modern HealthSinus washing is an ancient Ayurvedic technique, called jala neti, with origins based in the yoga tradition. In Eastern cultures, jala neti is performed as routinely as we brush our teeth or wash our hands. Although Western doctors commonly prescribe antihistamines, decongestants, steroids, and antibiotics, they also recommend sinus washing for allergy sufferers and patients with chronic sinusitis. Allergists and ear, nose, and throat specialists (ENTs) also encourage sinus washing as a preventive approach to allergies and key to sinus health.
Easy to Use, Easy to CleanThe Waterpik SinuSense Neti Pot is easy for anyone to use. Fill the pot with 8 ounces of warm distilled water (tap water may be used) then add one Waterpik Soothing Saline Easy-Pour Pack. At the sink or in the shower, lean forward, place the tip of the pot in your nostril, and tilt your head to the side. Gravity pulls the water from the neti pot up and over your sinus passage. I am a microbiologist, so appreciate the design of the spout that does not allow the solution to go back into the container. Be sure to use short, quick squeezes, because I found that some goes through the Eustachian tube if I am not careful.

Waterpik SWS 360 Sinusense Squeeze Bottle Includes 60 Soothing Saline Packs With Aloe Vera and Eucalyptus, Blue

Our family's "holistic" chiropractor suggested the Nasaline Nasal Rinsing Sytem With 10 FREE Salt Packets - Helps Clean Your Sinuses to help flush out our sinuses when we feel any kind of sinus issues coming on. Initially, we liked it, but there were two cons to the Nasaline. First, it was easy to push too hard, forcing too much saline solution in the sinuses and causing some pain but mostly discomfort in the ears and eyes. The second problem was the rubber top of the syringe. Once it dries, it no longer works. So, it was only good for less than a dozen uses, and I had to throw it away.
We are completely sold on the whole nasal flush treatment. So, I definitely wanted to get something. After searching Amazon's vast catalog of sinus irrigators, I decided to try this because I liked the design.
Overall, I like it very much and would recommend it to others over the Nasaline. Here are the pros & cons.
PROS:
- Provides excellent flow control, which is one of my most important requirements. Easy to squeeze and control how fast you want the saline solution to flow.
- The tip is very comfortable and fits snug.
- It prevents the solution from going back into the bottle, aka backwash. I tested it by trying to force faucet water back down, and it took a lot of force for it to slightly take in water.
- It comes with tons of saline packets that are easy to dispense into the bottle.
CONS:
- The opening is a little too small. I wish it was larger. Using my OXO measuring cup, water doesn't always go in spill-free. (I would have given it 5 stars if the opening were a little bigger.)
- You have to be ready to stop when you get near the end. When it takes in air, it gets a little uncomfortable but not painful.
Hope the review was helpful.

Neilmed Sinusurf Surfactant, 1.0- fl. Ounce Review

Neilmed Sinusurf Surfactant, 1.0- fl. Ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My ENT told me today, when I complained how expensive SinuSurf is, that its active ingredient is the same as in Johnson's Baby Shampoo, and that I can make my own with a solution of 3 parts baby shampoo to 100 parts of distilled water. I thought SinuSurf smelled familiar.
This is a dandy solution to SinuSurf being so overpriced. I am using it and it works very well. I had little effect from use of twice-daily saline sinus rinses to deal with a sinus infection which produced noxious green slime drip from my nose, along with an awful smell, UNTIL I started using SinuSurf.
Adding two squirts of SinuSurf to 4 ounces of saline solution immediately started clearing the slime out of my sinuses. The awful smell went away after my first use of SinuSurf, and some of the slime comes out with each saline rinse. Plus I had some crusted green mucus come out the first two times I used SinuSurf. It reallly does work as advertised.
It's just too expensive. So make your own. You'll still need to measure two squirts for each rinse though, so you'll need a Sinusurf bottle for that, and have to buy a replacement every once in a while.

Neti Pot Nasal Wash / Sinus Irrigation System by Rhino Horn - Blue Review

Neti Pot Nasal Wash / Sinus Irrigation System by Rhino Horn - Blue
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Though this neti pot came exactly as shown in the pictures at Amazon, you should know 2 things before you put down your money on it: the molded plastic is as cheap and flimsy as you can imagine, with an obnoxious coarse seam running through the entire neti pot. The whole thing is very light, cheap and tacky, like something you'd win as a booby prize at a carnival. Secondly, when I went to use it I actually cut my nose a bit because the manufacturer hadn't even bothered to sand down the sharp edges from the molding process. If the company insists on charging $12+ for this item, why not take the effort and make it with a more substantial amount of plastic and then also sand the edges?
Bottom line, it's a very good design but the company that sells it must be laughing all the way to the bank on this one. Maybe 3 cents worth of plastic.
oh, and they give you a plastic spoon for the salt (gee thanks)

New Neti Pot Nasal Wash / Sinus Irrigation Beginner Kit by Nasopure with 8 ounce bottle Review

New Neti Pot Nasal Wash / Sinus Irrigation Beginner Kit by Nasopure with 8 ounce bottle
Average Reviews:

Initially, I thought this would be easier to use than my Neti Pot and provide more convenience. I figured I would be able to use it in the shower, no bending my neck and so on, as promoted by the inventor. However, after using both, I actually prefer the Neti Pot!
It is way easier to add salt to the Neti pot. On the other hand, it is almost mandatory to purchase the specifically designed packets of salt (an extra expense) that fit narrow opening of the Nasopure bottle. Whereas, Neti pots provide a wide opening to add plain old sea salt, done. I also get a better nostril seal with a Neti Pot, as oppose to the Nasopure. Finally, when rinsing with the Nasopure if one put to much pressure on the valve it will close, and that sucks.

Neti Pot / Nasal Cleansing Pot, Yoga Accessories Review

Neti Pot / Nasal Cleansing Pot, Yoga Accessories

Before buying this neti pot, I had owned a different one for about a year & a half and enjoyed the benefit. When I gave that one to my young son, I purchased this lil' model as a replacement.
Sadly, this unit doesn't work nearly as well for me as my former one. The design is nifty (arched snout for increased water pressure).
But, a critical drawback is the under-sized spout. First time a product I bought ever made my nose seem far too big! More importantly, this has caused me to have to "creatively accessorize" the spout by padding it with foam tape & a rubber band.
Not good, in my opinion.

NASAL IRRIGATOR Review

NASAL IRRIGATOR
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My husband had sinus surgery a few months ago. His doctor had us buy a waterpik to irrigate his sinuses. My husband travels a lot for work. Lugging a huge waterpik around the world in his suitcase was not an option. The "portable" waterpik-like devices had much too strong a flow to use for the sinues. I bought this product so that my husband could irrigate while on the road. After a two-week trip abroad, my husband ditched the waterpik and uses only this device.
The tip creates a seal around the edge of the nose, so water does not escape...it just pushes through the sinus cavity. The whole process is much less messy and noisy than using a waterpik or similar device.
My husband took his Nasaline with him on a followup appointment with his doctor. His doctor was so enthused with this ingenious device that he is encouraging his patients to consider this in lieu of using the waterpik.
I also purchased one for my personal use during "sinus weather". No sinus infections for me!

Rhino Horn Neti Pot - Blue Review

Rhino Horn Neti Pot - Blue
Average Reviews:

This neti pot is the right solution for most people. It's ideal for travel, since you can jam it into your suitcase and not worry about it breaking. It's lighter than the stainless steel version, the other non-breakable option. It doesn't get hot and cold, like the steel one does, and seems to have fewer deposits. We use ours in the shower, and not having to worry about dropping it and breaking it is nice too. It also has the most force of the 4 different ones I've purchased.
Of course, ceramic ones are the most traditional and there's something nice about that, but this is not a romantic sport to begin with... get the one that works the best.

Neti Pot Sinus Rinse / Nasal Irrigation Travel Kit - 4 ounce bottle - 2 Pack Review

Neti Pot Sinus Rinse / Nasal Irrigation Travel Kit - 4 ounce bottle - 2 Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this as somewhat of an impulse buy, and chose it over other neti pots because I wanted something that'll fit in a backpack for travelling. It's a good product, but if I had to do it again I'd probably look for a cheap travel-size dishwashing bottle instead. I say this because I was annoyed that there was no mention if the bottle was BPA-free, and the manual actually recommends replacing it after a year of use.
As far as the nasopure solution goes, there's only about a weeks worth of it included. Just buy some sea salt and crush it down so it'll dissolve easily.

All I can say is wow. I have used just about every steroid prescription spray, Astelin (anti-histamine nose spray, Afrin, Ocean Spray, a bunch of homeopathic sprays, Neti Pot and none of them have done what this spray has done for my sinus inflammation and slight congestion. I recently got a septoplasty and turbinate reduction done and I have always had this slight pressure, and very uncomfortable feeling in the middle of my nose since the surgery and until I found this spray I have been miserable for the past year. I would not recommend this spray for someone who has severe congestion and a sinus infection, for those unfortunate ones that have that I would recommend using a neti pot 4x a day with sea salt until the symptoms go away and then use the Simply Saline.

Hydro Pulse? with DVD Video Instructions Sinus Care Kit by Grossan Review

Hydro Pulse? with DVD Video Instructions Sinus Care Kit by Grossan
Average Reviews:

At first I didn't like this unit very much as it is noisy and takes up a lot of space on my vanity, but then I kind of started liking it. Until it clogged up, that is. Now the water pressure is so low coming out that it's become useless. And it seems to be impossible to get the lines clean and working again. The company is quick to put the blame on the consumer, but I never used ionized salt and ran a rinsing through after use.
Fundamentally the transport lines are too thin and it's inevitable that it will clog. The company recommends running a bleach solution through, but that causes leaks and do I really want to risk getting bleach in my sinuses next time? Besides, it didn't do anything to clear the clogging.
I've just gone back to use a saline plunger. Easier to control the amount of pressure, takes up less space and is cheaper.
