SinuCleanse Saline Refill Packets - 100-pk. Review

SinuCleanse Saline Refill Packets - 100-pk.

With my dust and cat allergies, I will sneeze dozens of times in a row. Veramyst helps (but is expensive). Nothing helped after sneezing to clear my sinuses. It took a chance glimpse of an Oprah Show to discover Neti-pots. I purchased my first Neti-Pot with packets of saline crystals from Nasaline Salt Packets - Mixing Saline Solution, 50 pkt., (Nasaline) and it was amazing how fast and clean it worked. The sneezing stopped! I am talking about being in my early fifties and dealing with this problem my entire life!
So when the packets ran out, I bought more Nasaline packets and then NeilMed's Sinus Rinse Pre-Mixed Packets, 100-Count Boxes (Pack of 2). Check out SinuAir Powdered Saline Convenient Packets. After some searching (Target does not always have them, nor do other similar stores), I found SinuCleans to have the best deal on packets. You cannot beat this 100-packet deal for the price. Almost all of the saline packet crystals are the same ingredients. DO NOT, as I tried, using plain bottled water without the saline crystals or plain table salt. You will burn the heck out of your sinuses. You have to use the saline crystals. Here is a great deal.

Himalayan Institute Neti Pot Ceramic Starter Kit Review

Himalayan Institute Neti Pot Ceramic Starter Kit
Average Reviews:

The kit is a nice introduction to using a nasal wash system. Detailed instructions are provided. I like this particular pot because the spout/opening is wider than many of the plastic, drug store neti pots I've previously used, so no worries of poking and hurting my nose or water leakage.
My one concern is with the zinc nasal wash. There is some concern that intra-nasal use of zinc can cause anosmia, or the inability to detect smells. That might sound minor, but not being able to smell smoke or determine if your food is stale is no joke. Much of the concern was in regard to Zicam products, which uses zinc gluconate. The neti wash uses zinc acetate. I think it's best to use the wash only when you're experiencing cold symptoms. It would be nice, though, to see the zinc-free wash included in future kits. Overall, I'm pleased with the product.

SinuCleanse Kids Mist Kit Review

SinuCleanse Kids Mist Kit

The spray pump works well & does clear up nasal congestion.
It is easy to use one-handed and our infant doesn't seem to mind the spray in his nose.
The kit comes with a three week supply of preservative free saline solution.
What they don't tell you is that the reason there are preservatives in saline solution is that algae likes to grow in it. If you don't clean the device properly, you risk introducing nasty germs up your poor kids nose every time you pump.
Here's the cleaning instructions:
1. Carefully disassemble
2. Discard remaining solution & wash with hot soapy water
3. Prepare a vinegar solution by boiling 1 1/2 cups water, add 1/2 cup white vinegar, and allow to cool.
4. Fill with vinegar solution & pump 10 times.
5. Soak entire device in remaining vinegar solution for 20 minutes.
6. Disassemble, discard any remaining vinegar solution and allow device to air dry.
7. Refill with fresh saline and pump 10 times to clear pump.
The device is not dishwasher or microwave safe, (there are small metal parts in the pump), so if you aren't up to the cleaning regimen then this pump is probably not for you.

Ancient Secrets Ceramic Nasal Cleansing Pot, 1 Neti Pot Review

Ancient Secrets Ceramic Nasal Cleansing Pot, 1 Neti Pot

I don't share the previous reviewer's buying experience because I purchased this product at a local store.
This is my first neti pot and I enjoy it, especially when I'm congested. It took a time or two learn how to use it properly. You need to tilt your head properly to prevent the water from pouring down your throat and out of your mouth and also to make use pain free. The pot also needs to be warmed up first, which is done simply by running warm water through it before use. Otherwise, you'll find that you've got cold water going through your nose despite putting in warm water at the tap. Make sure that you add a quarter teaspoon of kosher salt and use warm water. It makes use more comfortable.
The neti pot does not work well when your sinuses are totally blocked. I usually pop a few Sudafed PE tablets, wait for a bit of decongestion to occure, and then neti. You'll be surprised what comes out of your nose! I only have to do this when I have a cold. Otherwise, I use it daily and my sinuses stay clean and clear.

SinuCleanse Nasal Wash System, Plastic Neti Pot With Salt Packets Review

SinuCleanse Nasal Wash System, Plastic Neti Pot With Salt Packets

Most people reading this are bound to be curious as to what exactly this is / does. I know I was. Basically, you pour a saline solution up one nostril which (if you keep breathing through your mouth -- a mistake I made only once!) will come out of the other nostril, irrigating and cleaning it of most irritants and other things. It's very good for allergies, colds, and anything that has to do with the nasal passages.
The first time I used this, honestly, I felt like an idiot with salt water coming out of my nose. Now, after a few tries, it's second nature and relieves me of most of my sinus problems including allergies.
This is a good neti pot since it is dishwasher safe and tough to break, but you might want to consider making your own solution once the packets are used up-- just make sure you use non-iodized salt (there are good recipes for solution available on the web -- just google "neti pot solution").
Use and enjoy breathing better!
