I've suffered with sinus problems, allergies and colds for most of my life. In 2005, I began using NeilMed Sinus rinse twice a day. I've not had a cold since. After four years of daily use, my first bottle finally sprang a leak. It takes about 16 moderate squeezes to empty the 8 oz. bottle. That comes to approximately 44,720 squeezes in 4 years. Not bad at all. For those of you who wish to save money, mixing your own rinse is simple. Here's my recipe developed after a good bit of research and testing:
A 52 oz. tea pitcher makes enough solution for about 6 rinses.
2 measuring teaspoons of salt. Use Kosher salt, sea salt or pickling-and-canning salt.
1 measuring teaspoon of baking soda.

Before rinsing, warm the mixture in the squeeze bottle (WITHOUT THE NOZZLE) with 2 quick bursts in the microwave careful not to overheat and damage the bottle. Two ten-second bursts work better than one twenty-second burst. It keeps hot spots from forming on the bottle.
I've never owned two microwaves that heated exactly the same.
Shooting cold water inside one's skull can be a real headache. Scalding water is worse.
Rinsing any time of day after doing a dusty or dirty job, especially in pollen season, makes breathing and life in general a lot more pleasant.
Additional note: Many health professionals are now recommending saline sinus rinses as one method to help prevent the H1N1 Virus. Since an adequate supply of Swine Flu vaccine might not be available until late 2010, salt and baking soda rinses seem like a viable alternative.
